Medicare notes

What Medicare's rules say about these products.

Short, sourced notes for providers and billing staff. Coverage is decided claim by claim.

Match quantities to the plan of care

Order quantities should reflect the change frequency your order and wound evaluation document. For home use, Medicare allows no more than a month's supply at one time unless the record supports more.

Kit counts aren't Medicare quantities

Each kit packs fixed counts — for example, 30 primary and 30 secondary dressings. Under LCD L33831 the components have different usual maximum change frequencies (a specialty absorptive dressing with a border, for example, is up to every other day), and the product in contact with the wound determines the change frequency. Bill only what the order and documented change frequency support.
